The response to last Wednesday's Ann Arbor News article, the information line update, the weekly website update and the $7.95 dial-up offer for UofM faculty and staff has been positively overwhelming. We (meaning Katie Barker and myself) are in the process of returning over 120 voicemails and over 400 emails received since last Wednesday. We certainly appreciate and are encouraged by the interest and eagerness of county residents wishing to participate in Wireless Washtenaw. Katie and I ask for your patience as we attempt to call or email everyone who contacted us.
Known Problems.
Account Timeouts: Home and business accounts are supposed to remain online indefinitely. Pilot Participants have reported being logged off after an indeterminable length of inactivity, forcing them to log on several times per day. Resolving this network issue is our number one (1) priority. 20/20 and Siemens engineers working on its solution.
20/20 Communications was selected by Washtenaw County to provide county wide Wireless Internet access.
The project is currently in the fourth week of the Pilot Phase. The pilot is scheduled through February.
At this time we are looking for potential pilot participants in the Ann Arbor and Saline areas.
If you are interested in becoming an Ann Arbor or Saline pilot participant, or if you'd like to register for the service when its in your area, register here.
