Mark E. McCleary is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and majority shareholder of 20/20 Communications. McCleary formed 20/20 Communications in December 2005, when he merged his Ann Arbor Wireless Co. of 19 years with IC.Net. McCleary is a true Ann Arbor entrepreneur successfully owning and operating several start-up and mature ventures throughout his lifetime.
McCleary’s vision that wireless communications will continue to be the future is rock solid. His purchase/merger of IC.Net is a natural extension of his wireless phone business and positions 20/20 to provide the next and future generations of voice and data services.
Ann Arbor Wireless began in 1986 when McCleary purchased Ann Arbor Cellular. McCleary owned and operated a painting and maintenance business doing renovations at Ann Arbor Cellular. The owners of Ann Arbor Cellular had other jobs and tended to the store in the evening. While McCleary painted during the day, he noticed the phones ringing off the hook and arranged to receive a fee for answering the phones while doing renovations. McCleary saw the potential in Cellular sales and three (3) months later, with every dime to his name, purchased Ann Arbor Cellular and formed Ann Arbor Wireless. Within 10 months the store was grossing $40k per month and growing exponentially. Over the next several years, Ann Arbor Wireless grew to a company with five stores, employing 50 personnel with over 40,000 customers.
McCleary did not stop with Ann Arbor Cellular. With funding from Ann Arbor Wireless, McCleary formed several other companies including 1st Page, Freedom Imaging Systems (FIS) and Birdseye Productions.
McCleary was born and raised in Hazel Park, Michigan and attended Hazel Park High School. After graduating in 1972, McCleary moved to Ann Arbor and began the first of several companies including a painting and maintenance firm employing 20 union contractors for over 11 years. |
